Places that Care For People: Public Libraries Delivering Health and Wellbeing Outcomes

Presentation 1: Developing the Victorian Public Libraries for Health and Wellbeing Framework.

Libraries have always been a resource for their communities, but the contemporary library can also support health and wellbeing by provision of physical spaces, digital access, information, and library programmes. Jenny Mustey and Debra Rosenthal will discuss how library services across Victoria Australia worked together to create the new Libraries for Health and Wellbeing Framework and the importance of this as a strategic direction for public libraries.

Presentation 2: The Tottori Prefectural Library’s programs for health and welfare – Making our community a healthier and happier place for everyone, especially those with dementia and disabilities.

Presentation 3: Te Aka Mauri  – The interconnecting vine, a collaboration between Rotorua Library and Lakes DHB Children’s Health Hub

Te Aka Mauri is an NZ first collaboration between Library and Children’s health hub. Our building is designed to not only welcome but also reflect our community, celebrating our strong Māori history and connection with Te Arawa. We have a strong Youth and Early learning focus for library services, but emphasis is also placed very much on Community Led events, programmes and spaces.  We support the goals of Community Connection, Sharing and preserving Rotorua Stories, Equity of access, and lifelong learning.
